I have been troubled recently with the potential environmental crisis that awaits us. However, I think that there is hope, even if it pervades in term of greed. The hope is that the rich, looking out for their own personal self-interest, will invest enough money to save the planet. The ultimate problem is that many of the rich wish only to get richer. Those who do not, the few that exist, tend to invest in saving the world from problems of yesteryear, that is starvation, medication, and the like; i.e. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The new problem does not seem to get the same type of response or the money that it deserves. I hope though in the near future, they will see the light and start donating to the cause of producing clean, cheap energy. Whether through research or actually investing in companies that provide such technology. One method would be to simply pay for the research and then patenting and the pledging the patent unenforceable. Thereby, creating maximum potential for entrepreneurship. Governments can give a million here or there, but in the end their funding will be very limited. Ultimately, it's the rich that will have to step up in terms of the funding to finance the salvation of the planet. If they don't do so, all of the money that they are investing is a waste.
